The Intelligent Playbook is a weekly letter for professionals who’ve heard the hype, tried a few things, and gotten underwhelming results. People who aren’t looking to become AI experts. People who want AI to make them better at what they already do.

Each issue is written in plain English; no technical background is required. The format is simple: real scenarios, practical approach, something you can actually use.

I’m Francis Tan. I’m a writer and content strategist based in Adelaide, Australia. I spent years as a copywriter before a long detour through other lives. Now I’m in my second act, building something new. I came to AI the way most people do: reluctantly, then completely.

The thing that got me started was embarrassingly simple. The blank page. Every writer knows it. AI fixed that for me, and once I was past the first draft, I could usually find my own way.

That was then.

Now AI is a thinking companion, an expert consultant, and occasionally, a brutally honest critic. The relationship has grown into something I didn’t expect.

I no longer work alone.
